Course Description
This program will provide an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular medicine with an update on the latest knowledge and advances in cardiovascular medicine.  Special attention will be given to the core competencies needed for the nurse practitioner and physician assistant providers to offer comprehensive cardiovascular care. Topics will highlight core competencies along with comprehensive clinical care including diagnosis, management, test ordering and interpretation, and patient education. Topic modules include Cardiac Exam & Symptom Analysis, Multimodality Imaging and Testing, ECG Interpretation, Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Electrophysiology, Pericardial Disease, Ischemic Heart Disease, Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathies, Valvular Heart Disease, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. The video content will provide a valuable update and knowledge improving comprehension and outcomes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiovascular disease.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how to provide high-level care to all patients based on the most recent guidelines, medical evidence, and standards of care
  • Identify current evidence-based practice recommendations in cardiology
  • Demonstrate enhanced collaborative practice given improved clinical knowledge in key areas of cardiovascular care
  • Select vasoactive and/or inotropic therapy based on hemodynamic data in patients with cardiogenic shock.
  • Summarize management of potential structural complications due to acute myocardial infarction.
  • Develop a plan of care to minimize complications of cardiac arrest.
