Overview

Patients with a single ventricle possess  complex structural anomalies and unique physiology. Specialty imaging and staged surgical procedures are often indicated in these complex patients. Clear understanding of anatomy and physiology of single ventricle is essential in echocardiographic assessment of complex congenital heart diseases. With advancements in surgical techniques, more pediatric patients with single ventricle physiology are surviving to adult age and require surveillance and management assessments with the assistance of echocardiography.
