This presentation will review the clinically relevant basics of ultrasound contrast physics to optimize image acquisition, state-of-the art clinical applications of contrast echo, safety and administration of ultrasound contrast agents, and evolving application for myocardial perfusion imaging.

How to Optimize Contrast Echocardiography

This tutorial provides a review of agents used to enhance imaging during transthoracic echocardiography. The primary focus will be agents that provide left ventricular opacification, and secondary review of agitated saline for the assessment of intracardiac and intrapulmonary shunts. Finally, practical tips will be reviewed for contrast administration and the optimization of two-dimensional contrast images.
