Overview

slide

This tutorial seeks to equip the learner with the ability to perform left ventricular longitudinal systolic strain by transthoracic echocardiography. The focus will be twofold, with emphasis on tips for acquiring optimal 2D images for speckle tracking and tips for performing strain analysis. Step-by-step strain analysis and optimization will be demonstrated.

Objectives

  • Review practical tips for optimizing 2D images for strain analysis
  • Describe and demonstrate importance of 2D sector size and  region of  interest for strain analysis
  • Demonstrate how to assess strain tracking and learn how to recalculate tracking if needed to improve accuracy
